The Consequences of Infidelity Ch. 02

I pulled out Andy's report from the envelope and I began reading. It seems that the two men that are dining with Marie and Mallory are senior executives in Malory's firm. The one seated with Marie is Jameson Kenner, the son of the firm's founder; he's a senior salesman and works in the sales department.

The man seated next to Mallory in the photographs is Derek Kolinsky; he is the sales manager and Jameson's boss. Kolinsky is 30 years old and by Andy's investigator's estimate is around 6' 200lbs. He has sandy hair and blue eyes. He is married with two children, a wife Kelly and two boys Sam and Zeke.

Jameson is 27 years old and is estimated to be about 5'10" around 185. He has dark hair and brown eyes. Jameson is married and his wife, Deveraux, is pregnant and they are expecting their first baby.

While Kolinsky is technically his "boss" it is known around the sales department that Jameson uses the threat of his father's displeasure to manipulate Kolinsky. Perhaps Kolinsky is a reluctant participant, but according to the report, he displays more than a passing interest in my wife.

I found out that on the day I stopped in to take Mallory to lunch they were at the restaurant with Marie waiting for Mallory. I put the flash drive into my laptop, plugged in my headphones and opened up the file.

I began listening to the audio tapes. While listening to the audio I started going through the photos the investigator was able to take. In the photos I see Marie Duval, the cancer in my marriage, for the first time.

The report says she is 5'5'' and about 130 pounds. I can see from the photos that she has dark black hair and brown eyes. She appears to be a 34 C like Mallory. In the photos she is all over Jameson, kissing holding hands above the table and much of the time.

I can see that Jameson has his hand up Marie's skirt courtesy of the mini cams placed under the table. The investigator had bribed the hostess to seat them at that table whenever they came for lunch. They were only activated when Mallory and crew were seated.

The first lunch was innocent enough and by the second lunch Marie brought Jameson and Kolinsky with her. Over the period of thirty lunches in the last six weeks Marie, Jameson and Kolinsky did everything they could to wear Mallory down. What appeared to be "innocent and accidental touches" by Kolinsky were all but.

Whenever Mallory would leave for the restroom you can hear Marie telling Kolinsky to ramp it up the next day. Marie said, "Tomorrow, accidentally brush up against her breast reaching across the table for something and brush across her thigh reaching for your napkin."

She said, that, "I'll keep telling her how fantastic the sex is with Jameson because of his big dick and how, according to Jameson, Derek's cock is even bigger."

Jameson is heard saying, "Hey!" All of them can be heard suppressing a chuckle as Mallory is returning from the restroom.

Marie, Jameson, and Kolinsky kept ramping up the seduction. The brush became touches and then, touches that lingered until my wife was letting his hand rest on her knee and rub her thighs under her skirt.

Whether it progressed any further cannot be ascertained from the photos. The audio reveals the sexual innuendo that was present at each lunch. I saw pictures of Kolinsky kissing Mallory on the cheek and then progressed to a light peck on the lips as they were leaving the restaurant.

One of the last photos taken yesterday showed Marie kissing Jameson and another showing my wife kissing Kolinsky. Now I wonder if her being so hot and bothered was not because of me, but rather, what she had been doing with Kolinsky earlier that day. And furthermore, what she was planning on doing this weekend.

I watched the video that the investigator recorded and it showed their behavior in more graphic detail. I could tell the point in which the camera captured Kolinsky's hand on her thigh, slowly working his way under her skirt. By the look on her face, it was obvious to me that once there he had his hand rubbing her pussy and perhaps, even fingering it.

Then he leaned in and whispered something in her ear and I could see she was cumming right there in the booth in public. I shut it off as I couldn't take anymore. The anger and hurt I was experiencing was overwhelming. If I could have got my hands on Kolinsky I would have killed him with my bare hands.

Fortunately, I calmed down and started to logically reason things out as to what my next course of action would be. From what I had seen confirmed that she had cheated on me with another man. Yes, she was targeted by Marie Duval and her co-conspirators and yes she was seduced.

However, she could have resisted, she could have walked away and stopped going to these lunches or demand that Marie come alone. So she chose to allow this seduction to take place and she accepted his advances without much resistance. Finally, she has agreed to go away with this man and it's plain to see she plans on sleeping with him.

Who knows what Marie Duval has in store for her? They may switch men or have a foursome. What I do know is, that if she goes on this 'spa weekend', that's the end of my marriage. I can forgive what has transpired until now; but I can never forgive or forget things if she goes through with this debacle. The consequences are three broken marriages and families, a devastated husband not to mention, crushing the hearts of two wonderful innocent children.

I don't care if it causes those two assholes everything but I take no pleasure in seeing the other innocent persons in the wake of this grand scheme get hurt. I will not deliberately try to wreck their lives, but it may be impossible for them to come out of this unscathed.

The shame she will experience when our parents, our friends, neighbors, our pastor and her bosses and co-workers find out when this all becomes public. How will my colleagues, employees, and patients respond? The damage will be destructive and wide spread.

Thankfully, as a doctor I learned to be alert and functioning despite being sleep deprived while doing my internship, so I groaned a bit as I got up and saw the morning sun peaking through the window. I went to the guest bathroom and relieved myself. I brushed my teeth and shaved before taking a shower. The jets of hot water helped to revitalize me.

I stepped out of the shower, dressed and looked forward to seeing Bobby and Jena, I missed them already. I decided I would have my coffee on my way to the office. I stopped at a nearby coffee shop and had a double espresso cappuccino, a bacon and egg breakfast sandwich and a cheese danish. I arrived at the office about 45 minutes before everyone started to arrive for the workday.

I began by making a list of the things I needed to do. Set up a new personal account at a new bank, transfer funds into that account, go to another bank and lease a safety deposit box, cash out my retirement account and store the funds in the safety deposit box until I can deposit them in my account in Belize.

Then I need to hire a divorce attorney, meet with the attorney, my accountant, cancel my joint credit cards, pack and move my clothes out of the house and look for an apartment to rent. It is quite a list so far and I'm sure there will be more.

No matter what happens this weekend I need to be there for Bobby and Jena. I need to make this trip to the water park as enjoyable and memorable as possible. Then I picked up the phone and dialed Andy's cell and after three or four rings Andy picked up and said, "What's up Doc?"

I laughed as I thought of Bugs Bunny's classic retort. I answered, Hi Andy that was very funny."

He replied, "Seriously Hank, what can I do for you?"

I said, "Andy I need your guy to prepare for the weekend." I'm going to try my level best to dissuade her from going but she has plans to do so. I need to be prepared just in case."

Andy replied, "I'll get things set. Good luck."

I said, "Thanks Andy, goodbye."

He replied, "Bye Hank." I thought to myself that I was fortunate to have made such a loyal and valuable friend as Andy.

Alice came in a minute later and said, "Hank I'll have the coffee going can I bring you a cup?"

I said wearily, "Yes Alice that would be lovely. "Thanks for offering."

She replied, "Your welcome Hank."

When Alice returned with the steaming mug of coffee I said, "Thanks Alice, I need you to let David and Lena, Michelle, Joanna, Julie and Marcus know that I need to have an emergency staff meeting as soon as the last patient leaves."

Alice said, "Okay Doctor Hank is something wrong? You usually plan staff meetings in advance."

I answered, "Yes Alice something is wrong but it's personal and not professional and has nothing to do with the office per se. However it may impact the office in the near future. I'll go into more detail this evening but please don't give out anymore information other than there is a meeting."

Alice said, "Okay Hank, I hope it isn't serious."

I replied, "Don't worry."

She said, "You have your monthly patient care meeting with David and Lena and your first appointment is scheduled for 9 am." Then she closed the door to the office on her way out.

Dave and Lena came in for the meeting and we discussed the care plans for each of our patients. I have these meetings so we are all familiar with each other's patients and care plans for when we cover for each other. That way we can provide the best level of care possible and be interchangeable with each other's practice.

After we finished discussing patient care plans I said, "Hey guys, I need to discuss one more thing with you."

Dave said, "Okay Hank shoot." I told them the whole story about my suspicions and of the possibility of my marriage dissolving.

Lena said, "Oh Hank I'm so sorry to hear this. You and Mallory seemed like the perfect couple."

I replied, "I thought so too." I told them that I would need to impose upon them to cover for me for the next couple of weeks starting tomorrow so I could get some things in order."

David said, "Hank we've got your back and anything you need you know where to find us."

Lena said, "Take all of the time you need, David and I will make it work."

David said, "I guess this is what the staff meeting is all about?"

I replied, "Yes, I need to keep this under wraps for obvious reasons and for that I will need the help of everyone here. I trust everyone to keep this confidential and so my absence isn't a mystery. Everyone here has a need and a right to know the truth."

Lena replied, "You're right. I speak for David and the rest of the staff when I say you can count on us." David nodded in agreement.

I thanked them and said, "Alright, let's get to work we all have patients waiting." It was an exhausting day due to my lack of sleep. I had the staff meeting and then I need to go home and get some sleep.

Tonight was the Girl Scout patrol meeting but I didn't want to spend any amount of time with Mallory, plus I was very tired. I called our friend Lisa Rosenberg, her daughter Sarah is in the patrol and I asked her, "Hey Lisa, would it be possible for you to come over and help Mallory with the patrol meeting? I have a meeting with the accountant to go over the books for the practice and I can't make it."

Lisa said, "Sure Hank, Joe and I have no plans and you do so much for the kids, so it will be my pleasure."

I replied, "Thanks Lisa, I owe you one."

She said, "No way, we owe you more than one, goodbye."

I hung up and thought that it is good to have friends like Joe and Lisa. I hope that I have them after this whole mess comes out. I wasn't lying; I did have a meeting with Arthur Adams my accountant. Now it was time for the staff meeting so I left the office to find my partners and staff sitting in the waiting room where we always hold our staff meetings.

I walked in and said, "I'm sure you are all wondering why I called this meeting. I need your help. I am having some personal problems and I am going to be taking some time off. How much I will know better by Monday, but for now, I will be taking the rest of the week off."

I added, "If by Monday I find that I need to take off an extensive period of time, David and Lena will cover for me and Michelle, I need you to see more patients as well to help lighten the load for David and Lena, if you would be so kind."

Michelle replied, "Sure Dr. Hank, anything you need."

I said, "Thank you Michelle. I know that this makes more work for everyone involved. If it becomes necessary for me to take an extensive leave of absence, I am going to give each of you a $3000 bonus out of my own pocket. It's possible that Mallory and I will be divorcing." I heard an audible gasp from my employees.

I continued by saying, "I am taking all of you into my confidence and I am asking you to keep this our secret for now. I need to keep the upper hand and Mallory is not aware that I know something about her plans for, let's say extracurricular activities this weekend."

Alice said, "Doctor Hank, aren't you supposed to be going to the water park in Mumford this weekend?"

I replied, "Well that was the original plan however; Mallory is now planning on going to a 'spa weekend' with people from work."

Julie asked, "Why would a spa weekend be cause for a divorce? I mean missing one family outing isn't that big of a deal Dr. Hank, I really like your wife." She added emphatically and just a tad miffed.

I said, "Well, it's like this; she is going with another woman and two male colleagues. This is not something that is sponsored by her company. Her friend, the female, has been setting up this interlude for weeks and she and Mallory have been having lunches and sharing touches and kisses for weeks and yes, before you say it, I have evidence to prove it."

I told them that, "I had hoped to spare her any embarrassment in the slim hope that I can convince her to forgo this weekend. Right now the evidence does not go beyond what I've described and is serious but not so serious that if stopped now I could forgive and forget."

Everyone sat there with a look of disbelief on their faces. Julie said meekly, "I'm so sorry Dr. Hank."

I replied, "Julie, there is no need to apologize. It is a bit surreal to me as well. Again, I need you to hold off judgment until Monday or Tuesday at the latest. I am going to try my level best to convince her that it is not in her or our best interest to go. However, she needs to be of her own volition; and not because she feels that she has to. She needs to want to stay."

I concluded, "That's it gang, thank you for everything you do and being there for me now and every day. Go on and go home to your families." It was if all of us had been hit by a bus. I hung up my lab coat, grabbed my stuff and headed for the door.

I arrived for the meeting with Art and the door was open to his office as his staff had left for the evening. I heard Art call out, "Hello Hank come on in. From your call it sounded urgent."

I said, "Thanks for staying late Art and it is."

He asked, "Is there some problem with the business I don't know about, some emergency?"

I answered, "Art no, it's personal." I gave him a general idea of my situation and what I was considering. I told him about the moves I planned to make financially and my plans for my retirement account.

Art said, "Hank if you do that you may run into trouble should you end up divorcing. I'm not a lawyer so I advise you to talk to a divorce attorney before taking any drastic measures or you may be accused of trying to hide your assets. I'll talk to my attorney regarding legal ways I can protect your assets in case of a divorce. I recommend that you take copies of your financials with you."

I replied, "Thanks Art."

I stopped by Condello's bar and grill and enjoyed one of their 'world famous' hamburgers (at least that is what the sign outside says), fries, and an ice cold draft beer. I could see the grill from the bar and I watched the cook prepare my patty from fresh beef and cook it to perfection. It was delicious! If it isn't 'world famous' it should be. I decided to catch a movie before going home.

I didn't know what was on the screen other than it was a Tom Cruise action film nor did I really care. It was about killing time not entertainment. In fact I fell asleep during the opening credits and was awakened by the loud music as the credits rolled.

Groggily I got out of my seat and headed for the exit. I drove home, pulled into the garage and noticed that the time was 11pm. I entered the house and Mallory was waiting for me with a look of disgust on her face.

I said, "Mallory you shouldn't have waited up seeing you have to work in the morning."

She asked, "Henry where have you been?"

Again with the Henry, it's a sure sign that she isn't happy.

I said, "Mallory I left you a message on your voicemail and told you I needed to meet with Art Adams after work. I called Linda to help you with the patrol meeting so you wouldn't have to do it all alone. I also had a staff meeting before leaving work so I was late getting to Art's office. The snafu took longer to work out than I anticipated. After I finished I stopped by Condello's for a burger because it was so late and I was famished. The office was busy today and unlike you I rarely have time for lunch and today, was no exception."

I could see my little dig about her lunches hit the mark. Mallory said, "You could have called."

I told her that, "I left you several messages, why didn't you reply?" I added that, I checked my messages at the restaurant after I ordered and by then it was past your normal workday bed time. I didn't call because I thought you would be sleeping."

Mallory seemed to calm down a bit and she said, "Hank I was worried that something happened to you!"

I replied, "Well everything is all right and we both need to get some sleep, goodnight." She went upstairs and climbed into bed.

I went to the bathroom relieved myself and I headed upstairs. I stopped and looked in on Bobby and Jena. The little angels were sleeping peacefully and tears came to my eyes as I thought about how their safe secure world may come crashing down around them.

Would they ever be able to sleep so peacefully in the aftermath of the scorched earth left behind in the wake of Mallory's betrayal?

I made my way past our bedroom to the guest room and shut the door. As I was undressing I heard the door handle turn, I didn't lock the door this time, and Mallory entered.

She said softly, "Hank why are you in here and why didn't you come to bed?"

I replied, "If you remember Mal, you kicked me out of there last night."

She said, "I'm sorry, please come to bed."

I told her, "I'm okay for tonight, I have to go into the office early and I have all of my stuff for tomorrow in here already. I'm too exhausted to move things around. Goodnight, please close the door on your way out."

She whispered, "Night." She looked dejected as she closed the door behind her.

I was awake before sunrise after an uneasy night's sleep if you could call it that. I went to my office and put all of my financials on a flash drive and I placed the audio and video obtained by Andy. I had a meeting with my attorney, Steve Reynolds at 9am.

He said, "I'm not a divorce lawyer so I recommend Paul Bronson, I believe he is the best divorce lawyer in the state. Steve added, Hank, the guy is a shark and he knows divorce law and custody issues inside and out. He is a friend and I'll give him a call and see if he can squeeze you in."

I waited as Steve made the call and as luck would have it he had a meeting with a client and her soon to be ex-husband and he would be in the area and free at 12pm.

Steve asked, "Is noon alright with you?" I nodded in the affirmative. He added, when and where? Hang on let me hand him the phone."
