Seriously though, this was another fantastic story, and a great addition to the "When The Lights Go Out" series. Even though I didn't understand all of the game references, I didn't need to. The plot was terrific and the ending left me wanting for more... which is always the mark of a 500-star story.
Brilliantly written, with such a natural rhythm to the dialog, I'm left in awe. The usual experience I've come to expect of stories from this master author. Kudos to you,
Wonderful! You are setting the bar high for the competition! Have a Grandson who is a gamer but a bit young for the story line. Think I will tuck this story away for a couple years and share it with him during his first semester at University! Yeah Grandpa is a bad influence! Been a few years since I graduated in '75 but many fond memories!

I was sucked in by the time I got to 'nothing in my vagina added up to forty-two' and the standard didn't drop. Loved the characters, their wit and humour, and the whole thing was beautifully paced and edited (I wasn't surprised to see the thanks at the end). Wonderful work.

Awesome story Ms. Terra! Cave Johnson turned a great Portal 2 into an incredibly entertaining Portal 2. The only way it (or your story) could have been better would be to include even more Cave Johnson. :D

Hi, Cheryl, here from the Geek Pride challenge. I got home from work and decided to read a page or two before I went to bed. It was so much fun I read the whole frucking thing! And then the battery died on my phone and I lost the comment I typed! Argh! Anyway, this really was a lot of fun and memories of Mario Kart on the Wii bring a smile. It was really well written with excellent pacing, some good humor, and the first time aspect was very nicely handled. Great job!

Freaking good story. Actually it was excellent. Got lost in the early game playing but it didn't spoil it at all and soon forgotten as the story developed, the pace quickened and I had to finish it. Top notch again.

Not sure what to expect when I started, except near-perfection, and I was not disappointed. Great story and every word kept me engrossed. Gaming for me is playing Sudoku on my laptop, so that part of the story was like reading Russian or German, but I loved the characters and the plot. Great job, as always.

Some of the gaming references went right over my head, but it didn't matter. It was brilliant (that's from my generation). She knew what she wanted and he was courteous towards her, thoroughly enjoyed that interaction.

If I hadn't enjoyed several of your other stories I'd have turned off as I waded through the gaming nonsense but, as usual, the human relationship made it worth the read.

I think this is the best First Time story to appear here ever - the plot is perfect ... likewise the dialog ... the character development ... I learned more about gaming than I had in total before this - I almost didn't read the story when I saw the first reference to gaming, but I have read all of the author's stories that have appeared here - and reread most of them - so I could pass this by
Thank you for a great romantic story. And the thoughts of the rainstorm in a car were sexy as all hell. I use to love to make love in a car during a thunderstorm. I have not done so for years, but it was my favorite when young. Actually almost as much fun as under a fallen slab or rock on a mountain cliff while lightning struck nearby. But that last only happened only once and the thunderstorm in a car happened many times. Just something about sex and making love with the world going crazy around you. Tin roofs and thunderstorms are great too, but only because they are sort of like doing it in a car. Sex in the backseat of a car is just that, sex. But with lightning flashing, the wind rocking the car, and the beating of the rain it almost always becomes making love. :-) Thanks for taking an old man's memory back to being nineteen and in the backseat of a 64 Chevy with a special girl and a wild thunderstorm. If I had not gone back to a silly old Asian War and then come back to find her with a new love and pregnant I might have married that girl. Just because I fell in love during a rainstorm. But there were other rain storms and girls to dance with. We all need to learn to dance in the rain to the sound of the thunder. :-)

My idea of gaming is ancient Papyrus auto racing sims, but that doesn’t matter. In spite of references that went way over my superannuated head, this is unquestionably the best First Time story here, and among the best in any category. Easy 5 stars, and would love to see the further adventures of these two.
This is how sexual tension and banter *should* be done--full of nuance and surprise, as it ramps up the intensity step by step. Well done on this one; 5 stars.

Hi, MsCheryl, I saved this one to read later during the geek pride event but, geeky me, lost it in my list until now. It’s a delightful story with a lot of little Easter Eggs from so many different things that made me smile as well as the sweet adventure of having that first encounter one doesn’t forget if done right. Great job all around and 5*. Now I may have to pull out the Wii and Mario Kart…and the note at the end reminds me that Goldeneye should still be in there somewhere, too. ;-)

Excellent all around. While it doesn’t need another chapter in the First Time category, a sequel with these character in the summer Romance category could also be really good.
See, the thing that happened is, I usually check new stories by category and not author. Which, granted, is a little dumb, and as a responsible user of this website I should absolutely know better, but anyway, the point is: I missed this one entirely and only discovered it on my most recent adventure in procrastination-land. And wow was that both funny and hot! Amazing job - your "When The Lights Go Out" universe is genuinely a brilliant invention (but, as you surely have been informed by the adoring public, does not lead to a good, catchy abbreviation like, say, Marvel Cinematic Universe or Blue Girl Universe, putting a serious dampener on the millions you are probably already raking in with these stories; although the BGU will leave the papyrology people seriously confused, so there is that). And it even has a hopeful message for people in countries with questionable power grids!
