Chapter 4

I walked in the front door, terrified about what's to come. I know when she hears about this, she'll be furious.

"Hey sweetie, how was school?"

She grabs the write up slip and rips it up.

"Am I in trouble?"

I lay awake in bed, thinking back on that memory. It was the first time I remember my mom standing up for me. We've always been close, very close. Chapter 5

(Mom's perspective)

"Judy, I need these reports done by 3."

"Yes sir."

I stare at my computer screen. I see the work I'm supposed to do, but I can't focus on it for the life of me. All I can think about is last night, and my son. I hope he's okay. He seemed a little out of it this morning, I hope he isn't too hard on himself about this.
