Once I could have lit the morning sky
With my love for you,
But now the day is dying
And if this is goodbye
Then I am crying
For you
And lost dreams.
Is this farewell?
Once the heart beat and I tingled
at your mere name.
But now the ashes lie still.
if this is goodbye
Then let it be
a clean end
to hope denied.
Is this farewell?
Once my spirits would rise like the lark
at the very thought of you,
but now the leaves fall
If this is goodbye
the very skies
and I weep
at the ending
of all things.
is this farewell?
Our lips once lit such fires
of passion for us
now snarl
if this is goodbye …
there is no if …
A good friend once told me " 'never say Goodbye'.. just 'I will see you later' ".
For those we love, we must learn to set them free. If they return, it was meant to be".
But Ican not write as well as you Pixie, well done and so thought provoking as always. Thank you for sharing.
A lovely poem sweet Pixie. Sometimes 'goodbye' is something that must be said, sometimes a goodbye just is. I suppose the sad truth is regardless of the space between, there is no hello that will not someday have its own goodbye. Sweet and sad, just the right balance of both.
Paul, thank you so much for your comment - much appreciated, as is your support for my stories xxxxx
